The brushless motor provides up to 50% more runtime than a traditional brushed motor. At only 7 inches long, it’s great for operators needing a lightweight, more compact drill/driver for tight spaces. The ergonomically designed rubberized soft grip handle provides extra comfort. The 12 Volt MAX CXT lithium-ion 2.0Ah battery slides onto the drill providing better balance and ergonomics compared to pod-style batteries. You’ll know when the battery is charged because of the on-board LED charge level indicator. The 12-Volt MAX CXT lithium-ion batteries have a battery protection circuit that protects the battery from over-discharging, overloading and over-heating. If you prefer a longer runtime you can use the 12-Volt MAX CXT lithium-ion 4.0Ah battery. These batteries are interchangeable with all Makita 12-Volt CXT cordless tools.
The Makita FD09R1 has a built-in LED light that illuminates your work area. This is an added advantage when working in low light areas. The 3/8 inch keyless chuck allows for quick bit changes. The variable speed drill/driver has a variable speed trigger and a 2 speed gearbox so you can select the speed you need depending on the job. The speed ranges are 0-450 and 0-1500 covering a wide range of applications.
